Family Foundation
SOARING with LOVE Family Foundation (SWLF) is a charitable organization founded by families with children in the entertainment industry. Its goal is to help families in need.
SWLF was spawned when Ariana O'Brien made an urgent request on Paloma Model and Talent's private Facebook page for donations on behalf a family in her community who lost everything. Ariana received an outpouring of support from the community and received truckloads of donations which included furniture, household goods, and clothing. A group of moms on the page banded together and formed a charitable group which ultimately became SOARING with LOVE Family Foundation, Inc.
Board members include CEO Arlene Silva, an amazing charity guru who has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for various causes; CFO and secretary Mariam Way, a computer nerd with an extensive background in volunteerism and community service; Chris Thompson, who spends much of her time driving around collecting and distributing donations on behalf on the foundation; Katie Taylor, renowned casting director who provides many volunteer hours and expert advice; and Zenobia Moore, who uses her experience as a licensing manager to offer business advice and a helping hand to SWLF.
Even before SWLF could get all its corporation and foundation paperwork in order, this amazing group of moms jumped into action upon learning about little David, an 8-year-old boy whose single mother had had a seizure and died suddenly. The members came together and raised money to provide for David's future. On the heels of helping David, the organization that fellow Paloma Model and Talent member, Hailey Kent, needed help covering medical expenses related to her Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Once again, our members went above and beyond to help alleviate some of the family's burdens. SWLF has helped many families in various ways--from providing furniture donations to monetary grants, to emotional support, to coordinating the donation of a car to a struggling single mother. SWLF continues to collect funds as well as goods for families in its storage facility in Norwalk so we can be ready to distribute them as needs arise.
Our goal is for families to work together to help those in need. By working side by side with our children, we will create a generation of kids who understand the importance of helping and caring for those who are less fortunate, and who learn how wonderful it is to give back!
